A year full of ENplus® milestones, despite pandemic

This past year was guided by uncertainty in all sectors, including the wood pellet sector. Nevertheless, a large number of companies got certified this year – more than 120! This number has put us over 1000 currently certified companies, which was a huge milestone for us. We are pleased to see small and large companies continuing to see the benefits of being certified, even during uncertain periods.

The commitment of companies to their wood pellet quality is also the reason that ENplus® has been able to thrive for 10 years, something we celebrated back in November. We could not be more grateful to all the ENplus® certified companies, the supporting bodies, and our partners for making this possible. A huge thank you to each and every one of you!

To cater to the enlarging wood pellet market, we developed a consumer page to inform more and more consumers about the benefits of ENplus® premium pellets. We also expanded our website to include 4 more languages – Russian, Dutch, Swedish, and Polish – so consumers and companies alike can find relevant information effortlessly. And for those who enjoy graphs and charts, we setup the statistics page

The fraud department also reached a milestone this past year. Over 700 fraud cases have been solved since its inception, ensuring the consistent credibility of the ENplus® seal. One of the larger cases this last spring was the forced withdrawal of fraudulent bags from the market in Poland – a case that involved several parties and a favorable outcome. To facilitate our fight against this type of fraud, our Application for Action was accepted during the summer, which was a great step to protect certified companies across borders. Due to the growth of ENplus® and an increasing workload in fraud, we have welcomed Agnieszka Jankowska to our team.

Next to fighting fraud, we work hard to ensure that the ENplus® seal is synonomous with premium quality by conducting Market Surveillance projects. We recently conducted the Market Surveillance Project 2020-2021, similar to the one from last year. We will have more on this in the coming months, when we receive the results on the pellet bags collected.

Because of COVID-19, we have changed several procedures and unfortunately had to cancel or postpone various events throughout the year. It is for this reason that we set up an e-learning platform for Quality Manager’s training, which is being managed by our new colleague, Mathilda Mushiete.

We have much more in store for the expansion of ENplus®, but more on that next year. Don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date with the latest news!

We wish you all a wonderful holiday season, and until next year!
